Affordable apartments for rent, 5 minutes from EPFL

We made this page in order to give some helpful information in english about our building located close to EPFL and UNIL (Tir-Fédéral 34 36 38).

You can look at our current rentals here (including in other buildings closer to the center of Lausanne).

Our buildings are often fully rented, and it is also most often the case with the Tir-Fédéral apartments. Feel free to contact us if you want to be informed in case of vacancies.

Let’s start with a picture of the building itself (and its balconies) before we give some details about its location:

Location

« Tribunal-Fédéral 34-36-38 » sits right behind the M1 station « Epenex », making the EPFL only 4 stations, or 5 minutes, away from your apartment (respectively 5 stations, and 6 minutes for UNIL) (Google maps).
The Renens railway station is 500m away, a 5 minutes walk.
A convenience store, open on Sunday, a Café, a fast food joint and a supermaket are also all available within walking distance (3-5 minutes).

The apartments

Each apartment has an individual kitchen, bathroom, WC. Some have balconies.
Each apartment also includes a basement box and access to the laundry facilities.
Cars can park in the parking garage under the building (rented separately).
There is also a locked space for bikes (rented separately).
High-speed internet is available through several providers, including very high-speed fiber optic internet through providers like Sunrise.ch.

Applying to rent an apartment

The apartments are rent through a rental agency, Gérance Crot, and your first step is to get the pdf of their « demande de location » here or on their website.
We provide an automatic english translation of that document here, but please note it is only meant to make it easier to fill the original french document, which is still required.

Your rental application should include:

  • The « rental application », duly completed and signed
  • Copy of your passport or identity card (if you are a Swiss citizen)
  • Copy of your B/C residence permit (if you are not a Swiss citizen)
  • Original + 1 copy from the « Office des poursuites » of your current residence (recent, maximum 2 months)
  • Copy of your employment contract and your last 3 pay slips
  • Copy of your civil liability and household insurance

When arriving from a foreign country, the certificate from the Office des Poursuites won’t apply, and employment contract alone is sufficient if you can’t yet join pay slips.
The rental application, and its attachments, can then be sent to info@gerance-crot.ch (rental agency), with a cc: to info@aurlau.ch (owners).

We hope this page was helpful.
